Performance, Maintenance and Rehabilitation...Naturally

SEPTEMBER 2010

Dr. Marc begins his Olympic journey by attending a 2 week internship with the US Olympic Medical team at the US Olympic Training center in Chula Vista, California.  During his two weeks he will be working with resident Track and Field athletes, Beach Volleyball, Men’s paralympic soccer, and Field Hockey.

AUGUST 2010

Drs. Hope and Marc attended a workshop in Allentown, PA focusing on “Current Concepts in the Evaluation and Management of the Shoulder,” which was presented by Dr. Dale Buchberger.  Dr. Buchberger is a Chiropractor and Physical Therapist, and is a consultant to the Auburn Doubleday’s(Single A affiliate for the Toronto Blue Jays), New York Jets, Syracuse University Athletics, and Auburn Stingrays Swim Team.

JULY 2010

Dr. Marc, once again, attended the Lake Placid Ironman where he served on the medical staff, “tuning up” the athletes prior to the race and managing their injuries on race day.  During his stay, he also obtained his Biomechanics Certification through the Active Release Technique.  This is the highest level of A.R.T. certification and with this designation, Dr. Marc can now evaluate an athletes motion, i.e. pitching, running, throwing, etc., identify biomechanical deficiencies and treat soft tissue restrictions that may hinder performance.  Dr. Marc is one of only five practitioners who hold this distinction on Long Island.

MAY 2010

Drs. Hope and Marc attended a multi-disciplinary fascial conference at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.  Speakers included Medical Doctors, Physiatrists, Osteopaths, Physical Therapists, and Chiropractors, all of whom have obtained PhD’s in their respective fields of study.  The goal of this conference was to better understand the mechanisms of fascial pain, and its effective treatment options.

DECEMBER 2009

Drs. Hope and Marc completed their Level II certification in the Selective Functional Movement Assessment.  They are two of only a handful of Chiropractors in the country who are certified in this revolutionary diagnostic and treatment method.  A comprehensive examination is performed to determine the root cause of dysfunction.  Mobility vs. stability vs. the timing of muscle engagement, this system teases out the issue.  For those hard to fix cases, or for the patient who repeatedly visits his or her Chiropractor/Physical Therapist for multiple episodes of pain throughout the year, this system can eliminate the problem once and for all.  For more information, visit the services tab and scroll down to SFMA.
